She used to be able to hide her moods so well that, most days, only Wolverine knew when she was truly upset and missing her parents, but now, it seems like she's got a whole world of people to miss. Wolvy never could completely replace her folks, but he had been a wonderful surrogate father. She'd thought he would last forever. When she was turned, he was the only reason she came back from the brink of endless blood thirst. She thought it would be the two of them 'til the end of time, but then, like every one else she's loved, he was taken from her.

Now it's almost impossible to hide her depressions, let alone her anger. Her fury always shows in the fangs that refuse to keep from peeking out from underneath her curled lips, and her blood red eyes must always seem pissed from the way people look at her. But then she knows her own so-called family still fears her. Wolvy was one of the few who didn't.

The other one is currently floating in the air in front of her, grinning so widely that Jubilee just wants to knock the sense out of her. She wonders if she was ever that naive, but she knows she was. She used to try her best to make life one big party, often using that determination to disguise her true feelings, but life isn't a party. It's about survival, survival of the fittest, and, sometimes, survival of those who really don't wanna survive but aren't giving much choice. "Get outta my way, Pixie," Jubilee growls, flashing her fangs.

"Oh, come on! Don't be such a grouchy grumpus!"

"I'm a Vampire. What the Hell do you expect me to be?"

Pixie takes a long look at her dearest friend. She lets Jubilee stalk pass her, yellow trench coat flapping, but her quiet answer stops Jubes in her tracks. "The same thing Wolvy wanted you to be: yourself."

Jubilee turns slowly to look back at her. "What did you say?"

"Yourself, Jubie. I just want you to be yourself, just like Mister Wolverine did. It doesn't matter if you're Vampire, mutant, human, whatever. I just want you to be you."

Despite Jubilee's paranormal super speed, Pixie catches her by surprise as she wraps her arms around her and hugs her tight. Jubilee closes her eyes as warmth spreads into a soul so cold and broken. Tears prick her red irises. She almost pulls away, but then she remembers that Pixie is right. This is what Wolverine would want for her, and what every one of the others she's loved and lost would want. Suddenly, she's hugging her friend back just as hard as Pixie's hugging her, and despite the tears flooding down Jubilee's pale face, for the first time since Logan's death, she thinks maybe, maybe surviving is something she can do and eventually come to like, just as long as she's still got friends like Megan to hang around her.

The End
